It has been more than a year since Bait opened its door, and they have quite made a big noise, for a small shop and continue on delivering some of the amazing sneaker collaborations shoes, from Allen Iverson’s Reebok Question, to Bruce Lee’s Onitsuka Tiger Game of Death tribute, and lastly but not the least, the Phantom Lagoons that entirely crashed their website on the day of the release due to its popularity. Following the release of Phantom Lagoons, Bait started a raffle ticket process online to give everybody a chance to purchase any collaboration shoes from Bait. So during it’s Phantom Lagoons’ aftermath, Bait emailed me an exclusive link to purchase their Bait x Onitsuka Tiger x Akomplice that dropped on October for their 1st year anniversary. I’m glad that I received one of those links, and a two weeks after their Bait x Onitsuka Tiger x Akomplice were released, they announced another upcoming collaboration with Saucony.
I was sold when I saw the Bait x Saucony Cruel World, the shoes is completely vegan meaning that no animal products, by-products or derivatives were used on these shoes, hence the little wood emblem that comes with it. In addition, upon purchasing the shoes, its proceeds will go to a non-profit organization called “A Place Called Home” that’s located here in South Central Los Angeles. I’m already thinking whether to sign up again to the raffle or drive my lazy ass up to their flagship store. However, the shoes arrived earlier that its anticipated, and the shoes were available a week early its initial release.
As soon as I found out that these bad boys were available, I drove my lazy ass up to Diamond Bar to purchase it in person. The drive is about an hour and a half to 3 hours, depending on how bad the traffic is, since Los Angeles has one of the shittiest traffic nationwide. Upon arriving at the store, I saw stacks of boxes of the shoe and was very excited since it’s just there sitting and it was my first time being inside the store. I was thrilled and amazed to see all the vinyl collectibles they have, feeling exuberant like I’m 12 years old again. Nonetheless, I bought the shoes and since I’m already there, I picked up their signature 3m snapback hat.
I’m looking forward to stop by the store again this coming week, as Bait will be one of the few stores here in U.S. that will carry the The Good Will Out x Onitsuka Tiger collaboration nicknamed Silver Knight. I’m pretty sure Undefeated will carry it because their a tier zero store, but the struggle and the feeling of walking into Bait’s flagship store is more memorable to Undefeated. It’s like the comparison of walking inside Disneyland to walking inside Footlocker’s House of Hoops. Salute to Bait for making these great collaboration shoes and congratulation to them for opening another store in Orange County.
